We are beginning a new teaching series in The Flood titled “How to Persevere”.  During this series we will be looking at what it takes to persevere in your Christian growth.  It seems for most people, you are either growing or falling, and that there really is no such thing as coasting when it comes to your Christian faith.  This series hopes to equip our students with the tools it takes to persevere in your growth closer to Christ!

Questions to ask at home:

1) What way to persevere did you learn about tonight?

2) What one small group question or discussion stood out to you tonight?  Why?

3) How can I help you persevere in your Christian growth as a parent?

Not a Fan

April 11, 2012

Are you a fan or a follower of Jesus? We will be asking some tough questions, studying some of Jesus tougher words, and taking a look at what it means to be a follower of Jesus.  Grace is free, but the cross is costly, this is the main principle we will be looking at.  This series will be taught in both Modified and The Flood.

Questions for home:

1) What was tonight’s talk about?

3) What can you do this week to move closer in your walk as you follow Jesus?

4) How can we as a family encourage you in this?

We are excited to start our “Not a Fan” series this Easter!  I would encourage you to attend our Easter service this year as a family.  There is so much power in experiencing these moments as a family, so please consider attending alongside your children at South Lansing Christian Church this year!

NEW TEACHING SERIES

March 21, 2012

Chad’s youth ministry intern, Josh Strickler, will be guest teaching this next series for our students called “Jesus Who?” on the person of Jesus.  This series will answer many of the questions our students wrestle with concerning Jesus’ life while here on Earth and how His teachings impact their lives today.  This series will be taught in both The Flood and Modified, but given in an age-relevant manner for each group.

Questions to ask at home:

1) What did you learn about Jesus tonight?

2) What was your favorite small group question asked tonight about this topic?

3) How can you live a life that looks more like that of Jesus based on tonight’s talk?

FLOOD LOCK-IN 2012

February 2, 2012

The Flood will be having a lock-in on Friday February 24th form 9pm through 7am!  This event will include pizza, dodgeball, worship, Nerf, video games, and a trip to Zap Zone where we have rented the entire facility to ourselves for some lazer tag!  Please not that nobody will be allowed into the church after 10pm when we lock the doors or allowed to leave before 7am unless previously noted on the permission form (available every Wednesday night) for safety reasons.  Parents, PLEASE be sure to have a ride ready to pick your student up AT 7am… our volunteers are old and will be ready for bed!

New Flood series “WHY?”

January 19, 2012

We have started a new series in The Flood we are calling “WHY?”. This series will be looking at the “why questions” of the Christian faith like why we pray, why we read the Bible, why we choose purity and more. I am excited to see the impact this series has on our students as most of these questions have come from them!

Some questions to ask at home:

1) Which “why question” did you study this week?

2) What was the answer given?  How do you feel about this answer?

3) What was your favorite discussion from small group this week?

The Middle School Guys Small Groups Nerf Day has been rescheduled for this Wed January 4th from 6pm – 8:30pm!  Pizza and pop will be provided!

Sorry, but the Middle School guys Nerf day at the church has been postponed.  We will inform everyone of the new date as soon as we can.  Sorry for the short notice

We will be starting our new Imagine series this next week in both Modified and The Flood!  I can’t wait to teach through this series on what our lives could look like if we could imagine them as being Christ-centered.

IMAGINE TEACHING SERIES

August 29, 2011

This fall both The Flood and Modified will be teaching through a series along with the entire church we are calling “Imagine”.   Each week the Middle School and High School groups will be studying the same Scripture and Biblical point that the church as a whole will be studying on Sunday morning, just altered to directly communicate with them in an appropriate way for your student in their unique place in life.  This series will take a look at what we can imagine our lives to be like if Christ was at the center.  We are going to imagine a Christ-centered life at school, within the family, among friends, in the area of money and contentment, and every aspect of a person’s life.
