MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

May 24, 2012

CLASS OF 2012

May 23, 2012

Please join us this Sunday at South Lansing Christian Church as we honor our graduating Seniors!

We will be going to East Lansing this Sunday night for Modified.  Our goal is to walk and pray, and approach people asking what we can pray for them about.  If given the chance we are going to pray with people on the spot and encourage them.  This will push our students out of their comfort zone, and our goal is to grow closer to Jesus as followers taking steps of faith as we shine our light.  Every student will be placed in a group with others and accompanied by an adult leader, and every student will ride with our adult leaders.  No students will be allowed to drive for this event.  Please be in prayer for this event and the impact this event might have!

We will not be meeting Sunday May 13 in order to allow families to have more time to celebrate and love on Mom!

Congrats Adam!

April 23, 2012

This is Adam.  Adam has faithfully served as one of Volunteer Staff in Modified to our high school students.  He has lead table discussions, helped with the worship team, and mentored students through a small group.  Now Adam is off to Owosso to begin his new ministry as a youth minister to lead a youth group of his own!  I could not be more proud, am sure he will have a huge impact on students’ lives, and am happy to send him out and look forward to hearing about what God does through his continued ministry.

Not a Fan

April 11, 2012

Are you a fan or a follower of Jesus? We will be asking some tough questions, studying some of Jesus tougher words, and taking a look at what it means to be a follower of Jesus.  Grace is free, but the cross is costly, this is the main principle we will be looking at.  This series will be taught in both Modified and The Flood.

Questions for home:

1) What was tonight’s talk about?

3) What can you do this week to move closer in your walk as you follow Jesus?

4) How can we as a family encourage you in this?

We are excited to start our “Not a Fan” series this Easter!  I would encourage you to attend our Easter service this year as a family.  There is so much power in experiencing these moments as a family, so please consider attending alongside your children at South Lansing Christian Church this year!

NEW TEACHING SERIES

March 21, 2012

Chad’s youth ministry intern, Josh Strickler, will be guest teaching this next series for our students called “Jesus Who?” on the person of Jesus.  This series will answer many of the questions our students wrestle with concerning Jesus’ life while here on Earth and how His teachings impact their lives today.  This series will be taught in both The Flood and Modified, but given in an age-relevant manner for each group.

Questions to ask at home:

1) What did you learn about Jesus tonight?

2) What was your favorite small group question asked tonight about this topic?

3) How can you live a life that looks more like that of Jesus based on tonight’s talk?

This week at Modified we will welcome special guest speaker Emily Batdorff as she speaks on Traffick Jam 2012.  I am excited for our students to learn how we can help put an end to human slavery and trafficking through this great event!

Just a reminder for students going to Statewide with us this weekend:

- We leave Friday at 7pm from SLCC

- We will return Sunday around noon

- Bring money for 3 meals

- No video game systems allowed please.  Ipods etc. are allowed but not in the worship area.
